Annotation

The presented study programme aims to prepare students primarily for scientific academic activity. Due to its application to the field of tourism, its second goal is to educate graduates as experts in the extensive sector of tourism, using the application of new research and development methods and tools for increasing the performance and efficiency of, e.g. administrative processes in connection with their integration in complex corporate systems, especially of service or hospitality companies. The goal is also to develop and intensively strengthen the ability to make independent decisions based on critical evaluation of documents and critical discussion using expert evaluation, to also develop and strengthen professional language competences, especially in the English language. The use of mathematical and statistical methods for solving research problems and their application is a matter of course. Emphasis is placed on the ability to independently solve a research task, high-quality processing of presentations and publication of given outputs.

Admission requirements

The condition for admission to study is the proper completion of studies in a Master's degree program. When applying for doctoral studies, the applicant must attach an essay of approximately 10 pages oriented on one of the listed dissertation topics. It also includes a curriculum vitae, evidence of completed education and a list of his/her professional publications. The committee, approved by the departmental board, verifies the applicant's aptitude for scientific work in the relevant scientific field. The admission procedure includes verification of English language proficiency, which must correspond to at least B2 level according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), on the basis of evidence of a certificate (e.g., TOEFL, FCE, CAE, CP). The committee assesses individual applicants in terms of the input materials provided (especially the essays in terms of the formulation of objectives, the contribution of the dissertation to theory and practice, the level of problem formulation, the quality of the work, the quality of previous publications) and the benefits of being admitted to FaME. A ranking of applicants is set up and those with the best prospects for successful completion of the DSP are recommended for admission.

These are primarily public or private research and academic institutions and public organizations such as regions or local destination management headquarters. However, considering the focus of the program, graduates will also find employment in the sphere of private organizations offering services in tourism. The main objective is to gradually acquire the latest trends in the areas that are taught so that the subsequent employability of graduates in the labor market will benefit the sector.
