Educational goals

The degree program Finance provides a general basis and the opportunity to specialize in two fields: Corporate Finance and Financial Markets and Technologies. Based on the knowledge and skills acquired during the study of this degree program, the graduate can evaluate the economic situation of a business entity or state or public sector institution, map its potential, as well as mentally evaluate systemic problems arising from values and interrelationships within economic systems. Within the study program, emphasis is placed on the interconnection of individual functions of financial management and economic evaluation of managerial decisions. The aim of the study is to equip students with advanced knowledge in the field of economics, law, and financial management, taking into account current trends and knowledge; specific knowledge within profiling subjects according to individual specializations focused on corporate finance, financial markets, financial technologies, tax and accounting issues, including the international context and control mechanisms. The aim is to develop and intensively strengthen the ability to make independent decisions based on critical evaluation of materials and critical discussion using professional argumentation, encourage socially responsible business and responsibility, educate for teamwork, develop and strengthen professional language skills, especially in English, and use specialized software.

Graduate profile

The Master's degree program in Finance is generally focused on the financial management of an organization and a holistic understanding of the economic context for making managerial decisions. The graduate of the degree program gains knowledge from a wide range of specialized disciplines, can perceive the diversity of the market and its development, has financial foresight concerning external conditions of legislation and economics, can analyze, plan and manage the structure of assets and capital, revenues, costs, cash flows and optimize them. The fundamental core of the degree program consists of disciplines of theoretical basis in the form of micro- and macroeconomic contexts, principles of public finance and financial management of organizations, and other specialized profiling disciplines so that the graduate can hold various positions in middle and senior management positions services, financial institutions, non-profit organizations, consulting and auditing companies, companies providing tax advice, state and public sector institutions. The graduate can work in positions such as a financial manager, controller, financial analyst, investment specialist, foreign exchange manager, corporate banker, credit risk analyst, back-office specialist, FinTech analyst, project manager for applying financial technologies, etc.

Expected career prospects

Through the acquired soft skills and hard skills, the graduate will be competent for suitable employment in middle and higher managerial and economic positions in national and international industrial enterprises, commercial or financial companies as well as public and state administration organizations and non-profit organizations, and has the prerequisites for establishing and developing his/her business entity. Furthermore, he/she will be able to quickly, effectively and comprehensively understand and subsequently adapt to the changing global or local competitive environment. Finally, he/she will be able to identify emerging diverse challenges or opportunities, respond proactively and flexibly to them and communicate in native and foreign languages. The requirements for graduates have been consulted with representatives from practice.
