Technology of Macromolecular Substances

Submit application

Educational goals

The study programme Technology of Macromolecular Substances focuses on independent scientific research in the field of research and development. Doctoral students are provided with the practical application of theoretical knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and general knowledge of technological processes and knowledge in the field of computer science and informatics. These areas mainly focuses on the specific properties of polymeric materials extended by the latest ecological knowledge. During the study, the doctoral student must demonstrate the ability to creatively solve complex professional problems. As a part of the study, the presentation of results at international conferences and their publication in foreign professional journals are expected. The graduate will be a technology-oriented expert with the knowledge necessary for an exact description of processing processes, physical and chemical properties of polymeric materials and products derived from them, they will be able to work independently, creatively, scientifically, solve innovative requirements for new materials and processes that improve the performance of products, and work as a research and pedagogical worker in polymer processing. Graduates of this programme will find a wide range of applications in technology companies, research and development (such as universities, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Technology Parks, Technology Transfer Centres, Applied Research Centres, Research and Development Centres, Technology Centres, and others), in certification institutes in the positions of managers, project managers and independent researchers, especially in leading positions in research and development departments in production organizations dealing with materials processing, i.e. in the plastics and rubber industries, and related segments.

Connection to other degree programmes

The study programme Technology of Macromolecular Substances focuses on independent scientific research in the field of research and development. Doctoral students are provided with the practical application of theoretical knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and general knowledge. The study programme follows both the master's study field 2808T019 Polymer Engineering (programme: N2808 Chemistry and Technology of Materials) and the bachelor's study field 2808R010 Polymer Materials and Technology (programme: B2808 Chemistry and Technology of Materials), which are currently taught at the Faculty of Technology TBU in Zlín. In the case of successful accreditation of the master's study programme Polymer Engineering and the bachelor's study programme Materials and Technologies (with specialization in Polymer Materials and Technologies), the doctoral study programme Technology of Macromolecular Substances will follow on from these.

Admission requirements

Graduates who have successfully completed their university education at the Master´s degree level and have fulfilled requirements for admission procedure may be accepted for a Ph.D. programme. Their education must be compatible with the Technology of Macromolecular Substances programme. Requirements for admission are regulated by internal regulations of Faculty of Technology Rules and Requirements for the Publicly Announced Admission Procedure for Accredited Doctoral Study Programmes in the Czech and English Language.
